The most famous Odisha festival, Ratha Yatra or Car Festival attracts pilgrims from all over the world. The idols of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra are brought out in huge chariots, pulled by thousands of devotees. The Gajapati Maharaja of Puri performs the 'sweeping' of the chariots with a golden broom, symbolizing the dignity of labour.
